A little bit about myself...

 

When we pick up a book, we all like to have some sense of what the author is about.  I'm older than I used to be.  I used to be taller.  I used to weigh a little less than I do now.  One thing I've learned at this age, I'm 70, is that I have a pretty fair perspective about things and a great deal more understanding than I used to.  I owe much of this to being a follower of Jesus Christ for more than 60 years.   He has gently led and taken care of me in ways that are simply amazing.

My wife and I have been married for more than 48 years as I write this.  And we have had a remarkable marriage.  We had two boys of our own and then adopted 13 children, many of them with special needs.  Through the Lord's leading and teaching, we learned we could trust Him for unimaginable things as we trusted His Word, the Bible, and His Holy Spirit.  We founded ministries to the homeless, served in executive positions on Christian missions boards, led and taught international students and scholars at the University of Texas and pastored.

 I describe myself as a man who ‘believes’ God and all His promises and truths expressed in the Bible.  I believe, therefore, I trust and walk it out.  I have a huge heart for the church and seeing her walk in truth and trust.
